For the last 20 years, Betty has been actively
developing her gift. Born in Hawaii, of rich Chinese ancestry, and
a follower of the Bahá'í Faith, Betty has a multi-faceted perspective
on our human family, and seeks to portray on canvas, the delicate
strength and rich beauty found in mankind and nature.
Betty has studied art at local colleges and the University of Washington.
She began her career with pencil, charcoal, pastel and conte, occasionally
combining mediums, but now finds excitement in watercolor, her talents
consummating in a dazzling display of form and color!
"Watercolor can be unpredictable yet executed quickly, which
is the beauty of the medium…the challenge is staying loose and flexible,
much like attempting to maintain a semblance of control in an uncontrollable
event. The process can be exhilarating and frustrating at the same
time. This is when the best work takes place. These are the moments
to look for when painting!"
Betty is best known for the animated detail in her portraits and
the color brillance in her skyscapes and seascapes. Her works have
been shown in galleries and art shows around the Pacific Northwest.
Many of her works are for sale. She is available for commission
